Suicide Through the Ethical Lens:
Skills, Interventions and Ethical Considerations as a Therapist
In this course, Lisa and Jeannie will weave threads of practical knowledge, resources, and emotional preparation and ethics into a lifeline for use in encountering the inevitable suicidal client.
After this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and understand risk factors and warning signs of suicide
- Identify and process their own biases and fears around encountering suicidal clients
- Identify how fears and biases how could impact their work with these clients
- Demonstrate the ability to ask assessment questions
- Utilize assessment intervention model
- Discuss movement, stillness and distraction as elements of self-care
- Discuss the role of supervision, consultation/collaboration and self-care to ethical practice

This webinar will be presented online via Zoom and is intended for Certified Imago Therapists, Imago Therapists in Training, Certified Imago Facilitators and Educators, Certified Imago Workshop Presenters, and therapists in general at the intermediate level.

Jeannie Ingram is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, speaker and workshop presenter in private practice in Nashville, TN. She has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. Using this training, along with decades of experience in crisis intervention, she helps couples and individuals heal and live more intentionally. In addition, she is a Clinical Instructor for the International Imago Training Institute. She is certified to present Getting the Love You Want, Keeping the Love You Find and Start Right, Stay Connected Imago couples workshops across the Southeast. She loves cooking, writing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and sailing. Most of all, she is dedicated to helping couples and individuals find joy, meaning, success and connection through the practice of mindfulness and purpose in their lives.

Lisa McGovern is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a therapist in private practice in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been presenting on navigating personality differences for engaged couples since 2009 and has presented on ethics, self-care and treating trauma. She has practiced psychotherapy since 1991 in a variety of settings and has a passion for improving relationships and healing past wounds. She is certified in trauma treatment through EMDR and is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist. She has a Bachelors in psychology from the University of Kentucky and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She specializes in helping people find balance in their lives and fulfillment in their relationships. By creating a safe and nurturing environment, she finds that through knowledge, gentle guidance and practicing self-care, many people can live a life that brings them peace, connection and happiness.
