Why do I date the same type of person over and over?

They might appear to have different gift wrapping but ultimately they are very similar to our previous partners and challenge us in the same way that they did. (Do you notice that you are having the same argument again?)  It isn't necessarily an issue to be attracted to this type of person. Accepting that this is the type of person you are attracted to is the first step.

We often find ourselves repeating patterns in our love relationships. This can be, at least in part, attributed to unresolved childhood "wounds". That is to say we have unfinished business and unmet needs from childhood and we repeatedly seek someone who we unconsciously believe will help us to heal these wounds. It is only when we bring this pattern to a conscious level that we can work within the relationship and begin to heal these wounds. IMAGO therapy provides a well practiced and well understood theory and model for exploring these issues with your partner in order to grow and heal together.
