Gregory E. Koch, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in California providing safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic care to adults, emerging adults, and couples. Dr. Koch believes deeply in the power of positive human connection and that everyone deserves equal rights and opportunities. This is reflected in the honesty, respect, and trust that he provides to each person he serves. Dr. Koch’s approach is personalized and collaborative with an emphasis on the development of practical tools and strategies to help navigate through even the toughest of life’s challenges. Dr. Koch is devoted to helping those hurt by abuse, trauma, and emotional and physical neglect in childhood as well as adulthood. He is committed to helping stop emotional wounds from being passed down through generations by teaching others how to move from blame and reactivity to empathy and understanding. Dr. Koch believes that healing is most powerful in the context of meaningful relationships and views conflict as an opportunity to grow and heal in profound and powerful ways. Dr. Koch is experienced in working with a wide variety of clients, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds and the LGBTQ+ community. He has a strong background in working with veterans, including those with combat-related PTSD. Dr. Koch is extremely versed in issues regarding the developmental tasks of early adulthood and helps emerging adults develop confidence within themselves to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. Areas of Specialization Dr. Koch specializes in trauma, childhood abuse, helping clients through difficult life transitions, establishing healthy relationships, as well as depression and anxiety-related concerns. Dr. Koch utilizes Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which are both evidence-based treatments for PTSD and considered to be best practices for the reduction of trauma-related symptoms. Dr. Koch specializes in providing couples therapy that is accessible for all partners in romantic relationships, no matter their sexual orientation. Using the techniques of Imago Relationship Therapy, Dr. Koch helps clients become closer to their partners by learning a new way to talk to each other. Imago Relationship Therapy is evidence-based, interactive, and action-oriented. The aim of Imago Relationship Therapy is to improve intimacy by learning how to understand your partner on a deeper and more empathetic level.
