Program Description and Learning Objectives

This course provides the opportunity to explore your characterological adaptations and the ways they impact you personally and clinically. Utilizing the theory and technology of Imago, you will examine your ‘shadow’ and deepen awareness of your own defensive structure in a safe, non-judgmental, creative environment. With guided imagery, body work, written exercises, and dialogical processes, you will become more acquainted with all of the magnificent parts of yourself and be able to move toward greater integration and full aliveness.

In this course, participants will learn to...

  • Apply insights regarding childhood adaptations to facilitate emotional growth and healing in the client population
  • Summarize and define self-defeating patterns of behavior that challenge personal growth
  • Explain specific skills for increasing attunement capacity in therapy sessions
  • Demonstrate and apply exercises that clarify counter-productive patterns
  • Create new neural pathways for personal and clinical application
  • Practice Integrating shadow parts of self
  • Create awareness of defensive structure
  • Define characterological adaptations and how they affect relationships
  • Review how to link self-defeating patterns of behavior to the unmet needs of childhood.
  • Formulate forgiveness structure and plan
  • Describe awareness of hidden self
  • Construct a personal vision statement for self-growth
  • Tell how to develop and accept disowned self traits
  • Identify denied traits and discover positive aspects
  • Discuss how to build and expand sentence stem vocabulary for use with couples

This program is intended for Certified Imago Therapists, Imago Therapists in Training, Certified Imago Facilitators and Educators, Certified Imago Workshop Presenters from beginning to advanced level. There is no conflict of interest or commercial support for this program.

About Marcia Ferstenfeld

Marcia Ferstenfeld, MALLP, CIRT, CI is known for her keen grasp of the heart of Imago theory and practice. She has been a moving force in Imago since 1993. She brings warmth, humor, clarity, knowledge and intuition to her teaching which creates a learning environment that benefits every learning style. Marcia works to create a safe environment that allows participants to stretch into their potential, and do the work of growth and healing, both personally and professionally. The core of her clinical practice, Imago has transformed her work. Assisted by Larry, her husband of 55 years, the two bring a wealth of insight and experience gleaned from their personal devotion to their own evolving Imago relationship. Since training in Communologue, in 2003 in New Mexico, Marcia has led and participated in community dialogues in Michigan, Vienna, Atlanta, New Jersey, Chicago, Baltimore and more.

About Carol Kramer

Carol Kramer, LCSW, a sought-after clinical Imago Faculty trainer, was trained by Dr. Harville Hendrix. She brings enthusiasm, passion, expertise, warmth and clarity to the process of understanding and learning Imago theory. She is able to break down the skills of how to utilize the theory in practice in a tangible and practical way regardless of learning style. Carol is a gifted teacher as well as a compassionate, thoughtful and connected healer which makes the process of learning and engaging in the process safe, fun and productive.

Cancellation

Registration cancellations made up to 30 days prior to the start of the course (the date of the first live class) will be canceled at no cost. Cancellations made between 30 days and 1 week prior to the start of the course will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations made less than one week prior to the start of the course will be refunded minus a $100 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations after the first live class.
